The End

Unlike The Doors I only stretch it out for 5:27.

Statistically Speaking

I figure I'd break down the trip, from beginning to end, the only way that makes sense - statistically! (kinda)

States traveled- 3: Cali, Oregon, and Washington
States I was in at all 6 - Cali, Oregon, Washington with travel from Maryland and layovers in New York and Texas
(7 if we count D.C., which no one does ... so I don't)
(8 if you count the state of panic which I occupied often: "Where are my keys!?! Did I leave them in that Taco bell?! Shit I think the roadside assistance number is in the glovebox!! Oh, they are in my other hand... cool")

Miles driven - 1257.35 miles...approximately - that's what map quest says it is from Seattle to San Diego. I got lost enough to probably push that closer to 1500.

Favorite line from AM radio: two announcers talking about Mt McKinley vs Denali (I didn't realize Denali is the one you're suppose to use). One announcer tried to make a point about names changed when Americans can't pronounce the original name. The following quotes are not direct, they are ballpark. I would appreciate a little slack, thank you.
Announcer 1: "Well yeah that's like when we change Hawaiian names. It could be A'amke'amke'anun'aman' and then it becomes Bob in the US"
Announcer 2: (5 second pause) "I think you just did linguistic black face"

Hour(s) of video tape taken (with rounding up) - 1 hour
Hour(s) of video tape brought with me (just in case) - 15

Number of vehicles hit - 1
Number of humans injured - 0 (!, that was a mini goal of the trip)
Number of other animals injured - 1 (Squirrel was in the wrong place at the wrong tire)
Number of animals taunted at the zoo - uncountable. (No matter how many times I yelled at them or how many rocks I threw, they just wouldn't do anything.)

Showers taken on road - 3 (one in Oregon and two in San Diego)
Baths taken on road - 1 (I couldn't figure out how to work the shower part in Bridget's bathroom so i just went with the tub)
Number of pay showers I said "No thank you to" - 2 (stupid Cali state parks)

Times sleeping in a bed: 1 (Motel in San Diego)
Times sleeping on a couch: 2 (saved the back in the middle of the trip)
Times sleeping in a tent: 3
Times sleeping in the car: 2 (lot scarier then I thought it would be)

Cost of parking lot at AT&T: $30
Cost of parking lot at Dodgers Stadium: $20something
Cost of parking lot at Petco: not really sure
Money spent on parking at ball games: $0 (if you don't mind walking for a 1/2 hour and leaving your car in shaddy areas, its the best option)

Book titles I wrote down as "need to read": 2 [Leni Riefoustahl - Triump of the Will* (Hitler's film maker) and Guerrilla Girls: Art Museum Activity Book*]
Movie titles I wrote down as "need to see": 1 (Dangerous Beauty*)
Books or movies marked as "need to read/see" that I have read/seen : 0
*titles are as I wrote them, not idea if they are accurate, almost positive they are spelled wrong

Favorite note in notebook: "'How in the lord!' could easily replace 'How in the world'"

Favorite picture with a stop sign in it: (mainly because of the terminator sign/ it could be read, "Stop making another terminator movie")

Favorite vandalism (I don't know if this is technically vandalism): I swear I didn't do it (I'm also ignoring the plus sign in the middle)

Favorite animal seen: That thing was crazy, the sign said it was a member of the Grendel family - that just makes sense.

Favorite picture from Mer's place: the (standard) hair pull

Best screen saver type photo (minus the top left corner):

Best parking spot: I later ran into a man in a wheel chair that was at a camp site with a decline towards the water, he seemed fine.

petco

and i made it to a Padres game. I watched the news really quickly in the motel and I think I heard them say it was the lowest crowd in Petco Park history - I'm historical now!
I got bleacher seats and they call it "the beach" because there is a sand pit between the seats and the outfield fence. Kind of awesome. So thats 11 now if I'm not mistaken.

Also got to see the zoo. I gotta say I expected a little more from them. Like crazy cool habitats or something. But it was nice - there Panda is better at making babies then the DC Panda, so, you know it has that going for it.

Bumper to bumper

So the yaris doesn't get to complete the trip. Got into an accident outside LA (heading towards SD) so yeah, that was nice. The other car seemed fine though (although the guy that owned the car said I could give him $200 to call it even).

It didnt feel right without the Yaris in SD, but they gave me a kia
(I never knew how much I liked power windows before.)

But I took it as a sign to end the trip. So I am cutting out Tijuana. (I'll get back there some day.)

Luckily I got the insurance [I was this close (my figures very close together) to saying no]. Also, I'm glad I don't really know how insurance works, because they got me a new car in like 10 mins, took me longer to moved all my crap out of it than other part of it.

I can see what you see

I've been meaning to mention this, I've gotten a big kick out of being able to see recently. I forget to take my glasses off alot when I leave the car, and then all of a sudden I realize I can do something (like read street signs without being directly underneath them). Its pretty trippy, but I also become a lot more nosey (don't know how to spell that, spell check isn't helping me out either). Like at the dodger game I realised I could make out the text message the lady in front of me was sending. I was upset that she kept moving her arm, then I realized I should not be trying to read her text message and the upsetness subsided.

But yeah I think I could get into like a Sunday is the day to see day - I still feel like I am going to break them so it won't be everyday.

I was going to post a picture of me in the glasses, but I see I have no photos of myself yet - lets see if I can keep that streak alive.

la

I don think I've ever seen the sun set on the ocean. It always avoids me. The coast curved out here, awesome, thanks beach.

Saw the dodgers today so (I recalculated) I think I have 10 stadiums now (old yankee, shea, Baltimore, RFK, nationals stadium, King dome, Safeco, the new one in Philly, San Fran and Dodgers) . I don't know if I can handle the Padres tomorrow or the next day, alotta baseball in this trip already - it would also be the Rookies again (they played the giants the other day) so I would be able to say hi to all those guys, but we shall see.

Got a sweet burn on the right side of my body at the game - I think it was jealous of the left side's sweet driving tan. (I'm nothing if I'm not balanced) (i have no idea what that's suppose to mean)

On hollywood bul right now but that is a little bit decieving - there is no semblance of a blvd that I can see, and I've got a keen eye for Blvds.

Giants win

It rained all game but they played the whole thing.

So i think that makes like 7 stadiums or something around there - Pat what number are you at?

No small boats or kayaks in the water though - I think its too cold even for people willing to wait in freezing water for something that has only happened 47 times (they have a sign in the stadium) Even crazy people have there limits I suppose.

But at 4:00 pm it didn't look like they would be able to play with all the rain but they started right on time. I wonder if the grounds crew loves or hates the rain. Like its their time to shine or "damn it now we actually have to work". I would be in the former group I think - former means the second one right?

Gonna stay a little longer

I wasn't sure if I should stay longer in San Fran, but Bridget and her roommate said AT&T park is a must see, so I'm going to try to go to the giants game tonight (they were off yesterday) then on to LA...I think I don't know if I want to stop in between. We shall see
